Pitih is a personal finance tracker built to work with your financial data staying on your own device. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.
Your transactions, accounts, budgets, debts, goals, and every other record you enter are stored in a local database on your device. Pitih does not have a server that stores your financial data — none of it is uploaded anywhere unless you deliberately turn on Google Drive Backup.
If you grant the Notification Access permission, Pitih reads bank/e-wallet notifications on your device to detect transactions automatically. This processing happens entirely on your device. The permission is optional, is only requested with an explanation of what it is for, and can be revoked at any time from your phone's system settings — the app keeps working with manual entry if you do so. Only notifications from a limited list of known Malaysian finance apps are read; everything else is ignored.
If you enable backup, Pitih creates a backup file of your local database and stores it in a Pitih-only folder inside your own Google Drive account, using your Google sign-in. This file is never sent to or stored on any server operated by Pitih — it goes directly to your Drive. Disabling backup or signing out stops this entirely.
If you turn on AI-assisted categorization, Pitih sends only the merchant name (e.g. "Starbucks") to Pitih's own backend, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to suggest a category. The full notification text, receipt images, amounts, and account details are never sent. This feature is off unless you enable it, and can be turned off again at any time in AI Settings.
Photos or PDFs you attach to a transaction are processed on-device (text recognition for receipts) and stored locally. They are not uploaded anywhere by this feature.
Pitih may use Sentry to automatically report app crashes so bugs can be fixed. Crash reports contain technical information (e.g. stack traces, device/OS version) only — never your transactions, balances, or other financial data.
If you enable App Lock, your PIN and biometric preference are stored securely on your device only and are never transmitted anywhere.
No advertising, no ad trackers or analytics SDKs, and your data is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
You can use Pitih entirely offline with manual entry only. Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data. If you've enabled Google Drive Backup, you can delete the backup file from your own Google Drive at any time.
Pitih does not run a central server or maintain user accounts of its own — the only sign-in Pitih uses is Google Sign-In, and only to connect your own Google Drive for the optional backup feature. Because of this, "deleting your account" means the same thing as fully removing Pitih and its data:
